Alex Warren @ City Folk Ottawa

Alex Warren performing at Ottawa’s 2025 City Folk Festival.

Alex Warren kicked off this year’s City Folk Festival. Headlining the first night of Ottawa’s beloved City Folk Festival, with support from Tara Anthony and Paul Russell on the TD Stage. Hanorah, Mia Kelly, and Tyler Shaw performed on the iconic Fasken Stage. Officially opening the first night of this City Folk Music Festival.

Tafari Anthony took the stage with absolute star power. Such a large area seamed small with the amazing talent Tafari Anthony brought to the TD Stage. Connecting with the audience with their unique and creative sound, Tafari Anthony and band brought powerful vocals and shimmering joy to the evening.

Next in the opening night line up was the energetic Paul Russell. Jumping all around the stage, Russell’s voice sounded effortless and fun while being backed up by his hype man and DJ. Melodic and catchy songs put Paul Russell on our radar to watch for!

Mia Kelly owned the Fasken Stage with her raw vocals, acoustic electric guitar, and her love for all things music and people who love music. Touching our hearts with her songs and sharing her talent with those gathered around the Fasken Stage, Mia Kelly let us know who she is and what she is all about. Fellow Canadian, Tyler Shaw closed out the line up on the Fasken Stage. Seeing this Canadian pop star’s fan base was a treat. So much love for Tyler was shown before and during the show. Shaw and his undeniable voice gave us songs like ‘Saviour’, ‘House of Cards’, ‘With You’, ‘Love You Still’ and ‘Heaven’, just to name a few. There seemed like no better night like the first night of City Folk 2025 to share unreleased music to the audience. Tyler Shaw performed a song titled ‘Run to You’ which he said will be released in January 2026. Lastly, an encore to end out this set, was no other song than ‘Woman on the Moon’.

The Great Lawn at Lansdowne was absolutely packed by the time Alex Warren ran out onto the stage.

Screams of joy and excitement could be heard over Warren’s backing band. Starting off strong with ‘Burning Down’, Warren’s powerful voice made us ‘Catch our (my) Breath’, and continued to perform songs such as ‘Troubled Waters’, ‘Yard Sale’, and ‘Carry You Home’.

The internet sensation sang his wildly popular songs to the crowd, with after hit, he showed us his charm and talent in real life. The final note of the night was the chart topper ballad ‘Ordinary’. What a night to remember. An anything but ordinary night, on the Great Lawn at Ottawa’s very own City Folk. Setting the tone of excitement for the rest of the 2025 City Folk Festival. Can’t wait to see and hear what this weekend has in store!
