DEATH FROM ABOVE @ BRONSON CENTRE

Death From Above 1979 came to Ottawa for the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking album “You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine”. As their promo poster suggest, they may have been able to liberate a small piece of Eastern Ontario with their performance. All the energy and determination they had all those years ago was mirrored on a Tuesday night in Ottawa. Ottawa showed up: Die hard fans who were buying the CDs 20 years ago, New fans experiencing the joy of discovering a ground breaking album for the first time, and Even some young teens showing up with their parents, creating new die hard fans. Teen Mortgage started off the night with punchy, punky, and solid sounds. They set the tone for what was to come. Coming on stage with roaring vocals, hammering the keys and drums, DFA showed us they still got it. The duo broke through their heavy sounding instruments to interact with the steadfast crowd, front row and centre. Hearing the nostalgic music that paved ways for music in their genre, DFA kept us feeling youthful. Feeling youthful, energetic, and dare I say a little bit free.
